The Promise of Spring

Each year we are blessed with the changes that Spring brings to the Earth. The glorious Sun shines with intensity, warming the soil to get ready for planting. The birds seem to sing louder and there is a sense of play in the air as the winged ones dart in and out through the trees building their nests. Everything is alive and this can be felt the strongest during Spring. As we observe our natural surroundings we can see many species celebrating this time of year. If you listen very closely you too can hear the promise of Spring. It speaks of renewal, regeneration, rebirth. Old ideas come to the surface once more for the opportunity to be birthed into reality. I invite you to sit in the sun, even by a window in the sun, and feel it’s warmth. Close your eyes and listen to the sounds of Spring. Listen for the whispers of ideas that want to come forward. Perhaps you have always wanted to write a book, share your story or take up a musical instrument.

The day of the Spring Equinox during a weekend retreat

I was inspired to do a reading on the Promise of Spring and the message from Spirit confirmed what I had just finished writing for this blog post. I have a few oracle and tarot decks but two of my favourite are The Good Tarot by Colette Baron-Reid and Mystical Shaman Oracle by Alberto Villoldo, Colette Baron-Reid and Marcela Lobos. Both of these decks have amazing messages and artwork. The first card to appear was the 2 of Fire. How appropriate to have a card from the fire element which is the element of Aries! (We just entered Aries season on the day of this reading.) Key words for this card are creative planning for the future, mapping progress, trusting in the unknown and spirit inspired ambition. The message on the card reads “Whenever I can’t see how my dreams will coalesce into form, I can trust in the process of co-creation and engage more deeply in the process of envisioning something new.” The second card was Wind representing the element of air. It reminded me of a special ingredient, and I couldn’t help thinking of how air feeds fire. “Wind rules communication, thought, songs and inspired ideas. The Spirit of Wind brings with it change. Regardless of what the change is, you can expect to be understood and to have clear communication with others at this time. Ideas are solid, and the shift that is being called for is in the highest good of all.” And then Thunder rolled in with a message that “your life is an adventure and wonderful opportunities are arriving now. The trick is to learn to run with them. Qualities that you will need are flexibility, dexterity and a willingness to experience it all without dictating from where or in what form opportunities will come. Your destiny is arriving. Be ready!”

Looking at the bottom of each of the decks the cards, King of Air and The Earthkeeper added to the message. The King of Air (Swords) suggests to work with the universal laws with clear intention, and observe how the foundations of the past affect the present and future. The Earthkeeper reminds us that “Earthkeepers are dedicated to the stewardship of the Earth and all life. They hold the sacred dream of a planet where all beings live in peace and where the rivers and the air are clean. Grow the sacred dream, and your personal life will flourish.”

The promise of Spring ignites that fire within us to express our inner desires, to birth ideas into action, to create and share with others. Let us lift one another during this peak time of creation and celebrate all that life has to offer. We all bring that special gift of individuality that adds flavour and depth to the world. Embrace your creative fire and let the wind elevate your sparks of imagination and inspiration!
