Spirit is always communicating to us through signs and synchronicities. The trick is to recognize the messages that can come through songs on the radio, re-occurring numbers, feathers, insects, and animals to name a few. I had been pondering over different topics for my next blog post and this very idea, originated from Spirit.
It all started when I was out in the yard checking on my perennials when I noticed a sparrow on the deck railing. It was hopping all around and then moved down to the patio furniture, strutting its stuff on the loveseat, coffee table and then back up to deck railing. The sparrow moved around with such vitality and joie de vivre that it certainly caught my attention. It stared at me and was unafraid of my presence and kept dancing around. If only I had my phone, I would have been able to get a couple of pics of this sweet little songbird. Spirit was communicating with me through this sparrow. What did it mean? Once again, I was on an investigative journey into the symbolism of sparrow.
I have always loved sparrows for their sweet melodies that drift through the air. They are very social, and you can often see them darting about the trees and shrubs. Sparrows prefer to travel in groups, as there is strength in numbers. They are great parents, tending to the nest and their young by constantly gathering and bringing them food. The sparrow brings messages of happiness, joy, and friendliness and that when you work in numbers, great things are possible. After thinking about sparrow and its message of joy and collaboration, I was surprised to draw a card which I posted on the Facebook page from Lousie Hay’s Power Thought Cards. The message on the card, “I Love Life” is the message Sparrow sings! Here is an image, front and back of the card:
Cue the blue butterfly who flew in and around my face later the same day as the sparrow made its dancing debut. Immediately I thought this was part 2 of a message from Spirit. The butterfly was a soft pale blue, and from what I know, is known as the Northern Spring Azure Butterfly or Celastrina lucia. It is common in eastern North America, from the Maritimes through to West Virginia. What is the message from butterfly? Butterflies are thought by many to represent the soul, the essence of a human being, and to represent transformation, joy, luck, universal harmony, and peace.
Another message from the natural world to live with joy, to recognize the beauty that surrounds us, that life is a gift! I have embraced this for some time now, however, it is a work in progress to re-train the brain to take ten. It takes patience and a lot of forgiveness of oneself. For me personally, these messengers from the natural world are friendly reminders to stop, take a breath or two and just be in the moment. Society has become fast-paced, with many demands and high expectations that are steeped in materialism. There is always a focus on time and never having enough of it. This cycle prompts us to constantly look at the future, questioning our next step, our next acquisition, until we decide to shift what occupies our energy.
Nature is a healer, and my winged friends were suggesting that the time is now, to feel the joy within, to try new things, to experience life, to stop and smell the roses! By living in the moment, we have the time to experience the beauty. I remembered this quote by Eleanor Roosevelt that sums it up, “Yesterday is history, Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.” What messages have been trying to reach you? I encourage you to take notice of the signs and synchronicities that present themselves them to you. There could very well be a message for you from Spirit!
