The Moon, Illuminated

Since early childhood I have always took notice of the moon. I believe that saying, “The Man on the Moon” and the face that one can see as they gaze upon it piqued my curiosity.  Looking back, I remember my mother always pointing things out to me in the sky, whether it was the images that appeared in the clouds as they drifted by or moon and the stars.  Her Sun sign was Pisces which is the astrological sign associated with the moon card in tarot.

Today, April 26th, 2021 marks the Full Super Moon in Scorpio.  This moon is also referred to as the Pink Moon connected to the pink blooms of spring. It is a time to celebrate the new. Super Moons are closer to the Earth so the energy that they bring is amplified and emotions are intensified.  Full moons often illuminate areas of our lives that normally stay hidden.  Creating a space for us to take stock of what we no longer need and what our heart desires.

When the Moon is in Scorpio, the sign that speaks of mystery, we can expect the unexpected! It is an energy that asks, or sometimes demands, that we look within and connect to our deeper selves.  Deep emotions can be stirred and rise to the surface, to be experienced and to be released.  This purge helps to clear out the blockages that prevent us from forward movement.  These blockages could be habits, negative thought patterns and self talk and relationships that no longer serve you.  The momentum is suspended until these blockages are swept clear. With this clearing, a clean slate is ready for your creative fire to dream a new reality into existence.

During this time of reflection, releasing and letting go, be kind to yourself and take time to connect to the inner you. There are some great activities to do during a full moon which include recharging your crystals and stones under the moonlight, making moon water, soaking in a mineral salt bath, diffusing essential oils such as lemongrass, cypress, frankincense and thyme or putting a drop here and there on your wrists, heart and third eye chakras and practicing some divination.  Writing a gratitude letter is a great activity anytime but especially during a full moon when you are reflecting on where you have been, where are you now and where you would like to be in the coming months. Celebrate the journey that brought you to this moment.
