Love is…a walk in the park, curling up with a good book, taking an afternoon nap, sitting in silence. Many people may wonder how is this love, it is all about you? And this is exactly my point. Life can be extremely busy with work, kids, household chores, volunteer time – you name it. While these are great things to do they can quickly fill up the calendar leaving no time left for yourself. This has been my experience and it was really starting to weigh heavy on me. I felt drained, zapped of energy and flat. Where did my zest for life go, that joie de vivre that was missing from my existence? I decided that I needed to take action and started reading articles, books and watching presentations on the subject of our inner self and spirit/soul and I have sought the help of some spiritual specialists. Nothing is a quick fix, this I have learned, but if you dedicate some time each day to focus on your inner self you will begin to notice that you need and crave this time.
I am no different than many of you and I wanted to chronicle my journey in the hopes that it will inspire other busy folks to “take ten” for themselves and nourish their souls. I am not proposing to be an expert on anything, I am a person who deeply cares about our planet and the people who live on it. If we all are doing well individually, think of what we can achieve as a collective? I am open to your comments, as dialogue sparks growth by stretching and expanding our thoughts to absorb new information. I am a work in progress and this will no doubt continue until the end of my days and this I have embraced for I am a life long learner!
Invest in yourself today
Take some time today, tomorrow and the next and do something for you. If you start off with 5-10 minutes each day you will find it easier to get in the habit. Ask yourself what you would like to do and go and do it. In the beginning I would take my morning coffee and sit out on my deck in the sunshine. I still do this when I can but I have added meditation and other activities into the mix to feed my soul. I have come to believe that when I nurture myself, I also nurture others. Stay tuned as I have been busy for the last while and need to put pen to paper to catch up on what has been happening. Love to you all!
